Lost memories - hidden treasures

Well I was going to do a post on some photos I took over the fall and winter, but I found some photos from a few adventures I went on last year and thought I might share a few...

This was at Glendalough. A beautiful area full of history, hikes, and amazing scenery.

St. Kevin's Kitchen

Flowers at the McEvoy residence.

Sweet ole Lucy - she's always up for wandering the fields with me and being my model.

 ... and of course there's Scotty ...

And finally, Dunguaire Castle which is located on the shore of Galway Bay in Kinvarra, Co. Galway.

And that's it for now! I'll work on some more photos for next time. I hope some day I will be caught up ... but that feels like a distant dream at this point!

Summer vacation ... a year later

Does anyone know what happened to this year? I thought I just flew over to Ireland last month yet here it is, May. I'm a little embarrassed that I have not done ANY posts for far too long. Every time I tell myself to go post a blog, I get distracted by life.

I do want to apologise to anyone who has friend requested me on Facebook. I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. I spend far too much time on it, but it does keep me in contact with my family and friends away from home. That being said, I really only use it to stay in contact with my family and friends and I don't post any of my nice photos that you see here. I don't know what Facebook's rules are with photos but I believe they have ownership over any image you post and I didn't want them to own my nice photos. I know I need to create a stamp/watermark to put on all my photos but, let's be real, I'm barely finding time to make posts. Anyway, my point is, please don't be hurt if I don't accept your friend requests, I'd just rather leave that more private (yes, I hear the irony, social media - private?!) . But I promise that you aren't missing out, all of my Ireland photos are posted here and I really only talk about my time in Ireland here on my blog and not on Facebook. I do have a twitter account ... which I've done nothing with ... did I mention I barely find time to post blogs? Don't be greedy people. I do hope someday I will get my act together and be more consistent with my blog and posting. We can dream, right?

This year has been so incredible but, man, has it flown by. I am kicking myself for leaving my nice camera back in the states and definitely plan on bringing it back over the next chance I get. Luckily, my iPhone camera is not too shabby and I have been able to get some nice shots this year.

I went back to see where I had left off and realized I am almost a year behind. aha ha ha ha ... ahem. Again, very embarrassed. Anyway. I wanted to share some of the photos from last summer which show off my beautiful home state - Washington. I hope you all enjoy and please feel free to comment or ask questions here on my blog and I promise to respond as soon as I can.

Okay, here we go...

David and I went on a hike around Mt. Rainier, unfortunately the mountain was hiding behind clouds and only peaked out very briefly. You can slightly see Mt. Rainier behind those white clouds in the photo. August was a terribly hot year last year and all the wildflowers had bloomed early so we didn't get to see too many. However, it was still incredibly beautiful up there.

Had to get a quick picture with Mt. Rainier before it was covered again.

More pictures during our hike:

One of the few flowers I found!

From the parking lot before we left, of course it was burning off when we were leaving.

We also introduced David to 'tubing' at Lake Mayfield. He was an absolute natural!

To quiet things down a bit, we went canoeing up the Tilton river. It was a beautiful day and there were tons of boats out. We had to laugh because people were trying to fish on the river and as we went further up, where it get's shallow, there were tons of fish basking in the sun with not a soul in sight.

We also visited Seattle for a bit and went to the EMP museum which was incredible. There was display of Star Wars costumes at the time which I loved, but I won't bore you with those photos.
We also got free tickets to go to the top of the Space Needle which was a treat as I have never done that before, and I'm from Washington!

I got this nice shot from the top as it was dusk in Seattle.

David had to go back home but I stuck around a bit longer and took a train to Bellingham.
Saw a beautiful sunset as we went along the water. It's a bit blurry as I was on the train, but I still think it's quite pretty.

And of course, I had to share a few pictures of sweet Maisie.
I can't take credit for this next photo, as David is the one who took it, but it's one of my favourite.

And here she is after having a bath ... she has such a hard life.

And finally, while home I had the opportunity to go to Mexico with some family. I wanted to share some photos of some beautiful flowers I found while there and I hope it brightens your day.

That's it for the summer, I hope you enjoyed the photos but if you were missing Ireland then don't worry, my next post will be about being back in Ireland ... for the while, at least.

Let's catch up

Well I'm not quite sure how this happened but it's already December!

I finally finished my thesis and traveled home a few days later. The summer flew by before I knew it and I found myself back in Ireland doing a CELTA course; all the while I kept telling myself to do another post!

So here I am, it's December, I'm currently helping the McEvoy family with Turkey orders and looking for teaching English jobs around Dublin. But most importantly ... I have photos to share. So enough about me ... here are some photos from the summer:

I can't actually remember when I took these shots but there are some of my favorites, my apologies if I have already shown them.

Lucy, contemplating life ... or trying to decide if that is a hare she sees out there...

The beautiful field of barely in July.

A hike near Dublin

And another walk around Glendalough

Then the baby turkeys arrived!

And summer flowers...

While working on my thesis, a friend and I decided to take a break and walk around campus, we came across a cemetery behind the campus, where priests (and some nuns) were buried. It was a beautiful little cemetery with amazing Celtic crosses.

And here's a look at the beautiful Maynooth University, this is their south campus which used to be known as St. Patrick's College and is one of the oldest colleges in Ireland. I absolutely loved my time at Maynooth and appreciate how friendly and welcoming everyone was.

Well I think that's enough for now. I have a few more summer photos and then some recap photos from the last year before I begin my SECOND year in Ireland!
Enjoy and stay safe through the holiday season.
